More enrollments mean more growth and less rejections

But there are far too many people who think that prospecting MORE is the secret to more enrollments

“If I can muster up the courage to get kicked in the stomach with rejection and feel as if my chest will explode, and contact more this week, I “should” hit my enrollment goals…right?!”

More prospecting is actually HURTING your enrollments while slowly driving your anxiety from contacting all the damn time

(Crazy right but this is what 99% of what is taught in our profession…)

Why Prospecting More Was Breaking My Spirit

After hitting millionaire status, I thought I had it made

Then I was hit between the eyes with a hammer….

Facebook changed their algorithm and people quit contacting me

I’m a huge introvert with ADHD that has ‘RSD'

(Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria)

My wife developed Parkinson’s disease and I had to become her caregiver

Health insurance doesn’t cover Parkinson’s very much. We needed more income, but network marketing was drying up and my weekly checks were going backward

The changed Facebook algorithm re-introduced AUTOMATIC rejection into recruiting

Many on my team…

Quit! They hated rejection too

Faced with having to prospect brought on a lot of anxiety

(Sleepless nights too!)

I bought a top trainer’s method of doing spammy audio reach outs on Facebook Messenger

After a bunch of practice to sound authentic began to send messages to people

After 206 messages sent…

ZERO got back to me

I had a month of depression that worried my wife and children

Can’t quit now though

Bought another top trainer’s Little Black Book of Scripts

I had to approach random strangers and strike up a conversation

Do you know how hard it is for an introvert to talk to random strangers?

It sucks

I called this my “Spammy Grocery Store Script Method”

After three months and 143 contacts…

Building relationships with people I really didn’t like…

Two people joined my team

Results: 4 months

Contacted: 349 people

Two Joined

Success rate: 0.06%

Rejection rate: 99.4%

Depression rate: 100%

I felt rather betrayed by the profession and how they teach us to recruit

So what did I do?

Went outside of our profession for answers….

It’s kind of a joke that our profession is called Network “Marketing”

Marketing is not taught….

I think a better term would be Network Non-Marketing

Selling isn't taught either (that's weird to me)…

Posting random things on social media without a plan isn’t marketing

It’s just plain ineffective and a waste of precious time

Sure, personal development is taught

Why?

Ever hear this line, “The Noes build my character, the Yeses build my business?”

That’s a crock of poop 

Noes crush my character and yeses built it

They have to teach personal development because they are really only teaching you …

“Find the needle in the haystack and get rejected 99% of the time doing it”

But I showed them….

Now, leads raise their hand wanting what I have

They want to join with me and buy my products

I don’t have to prospect to do it

ZERO REJECTION

In a 10th of the TIME

That’s the power of “real” marketing

I discovered REAL marketing…
And put it on steroids by making it digital

I finally could see how my “spammy prospecting mistakes” killed any chance for me to regrow my team

My Instagram channel grew from 2,000 followers to close to 180,000 in 10 months (IG @michael.c.lantz)

My lead pool grew from the measly 342 email addresses….

To over 7,600

About 2,000 – 4,000 leads are added to my list each quarter

Now, enrollments are increasing at a rate I’ve never had in 18 years

I’m not some attraction magnet like many of the young energetic beautiful women in my company

I’m a 68-year-old gray hair former ‘Very introverted’ CPA with ADHD who has the lifestyle of a caregiver

But guess what?

There are only 2 top leaders in my company (both beautiful young ladies) with more followers than I have

I finally got there because I STOPPED prospecting, and started to MARKET

Marketing solved all the crud I suffered from….

Rejection (and depression), and the lie I was told that it was “just the way it is”

Rejection that reduced my confidence in approaching new prospects. I avoided outreach activities to avoid rejection

Then the Negative Self-Talk and Shame, the awful feeling that I was a failure

Wasting a ton of time on the wrong people who didn’t want what I had and would for sure say,
“NO!”

Being a caregiver is almost like full time employment. At times I felt overwhelmed trying to do everything to make life better for my wife

Honestly, I was burnt out. I couldn’t keep juggling all these multiple roles

The “contact 20 per day” and make a “list of 100 family and friends” and the feeling of being “inauthentic”

I actually think that strategy was so my upline felt better about themself

Honestly, my upline never did what they are asking me to do...

I sleep at night now instead of lying awake with a heavy chest of worry

Stress was real. Having to go into debt to pay for my wife’s Parkinson’s needs was scary

Debt never sleeps

Knowing I needed leads but didn’t know how to find them without rejection

Or where to get them from

It took a ton of time to go to meetings, have home parties, or networking events. As an introvert, I never liked being around a lot of people anyway

I’m not frustrated now like I used to be when my leaders checked out and team quit duplicating

Marketing is duplicable!

I don’t feel stuck anymore either!

I have time for me now. It’s hard to be a caregiver and seemed to be a constant worry and feeling that the needs of others are more important that my own

My fitness and energy level are improving because I have time for me now

There were 3 major things I needed to do to get past all this

They are:
1) I needed to add value to a narrow niche,
2) Use digital delivery methods, and
3) Get a mentor who actually helped me

So what does this mean?

Well, you can already see that adding value to a narrow niche and serving them will bring followers to you wanting what you have

But you can’t just give any random value

It needs to help them solve their unique and specific problems

You can’t be everywhere at once, but you can get close with digital delivery

This marketing never sleeps even when you do
